September favorites: Personalization special

From dynamic copy to ‘chosen for you’ offers, personalization is the key to delivering valuable, engaging content for customers. Here are some of our favorite examples of how brands used personalization in September.

Virgin Trains’ pre-travel reminder

The personalized content of this email is fairly standard for a pre-travel confirmation, but the way it has been done makes it stand out and gives it a more exclusive feel. The coach number is shown as a personalized image, and the email clearly displays all the necessary details and generates excitement for the upcoming journey.

Voyage Privé’s recommended offers

Like many retailers, Voyage Privé send a follow up email featuring personalized offers based on browse behavior. But the copy in the email draws attention to what they subscriber has recently viewed and why they’re receiving the email. This transparency can be a difficult balance to strike – to highlight the relevance to customers without being intrusive – but we think this email does it well.

Wahanda’s personalized newsletter

We like the way that Wahanda blend subtle personalized details throughout their newsletter to make them feel more engaging. By simply including a slim banner that references recent appointments, the whole email feels more grounded and relevant and gives the impression it has all been chosen for you.

Jo Malone’s in-store follow up

This email was a follow up message to a new customer from an in-store purchase. By referencing the first name and product purchased, the email feels immediately personal and relevant. It uses what could have been a one-off transaction to begin building a relationship with the customer, starting with a communication that makes them feel valued and recognised.

Movember’s reminder

This one technically arrived in the first few days of October but we wanted to include it as it’s a nice example of how using a personalized image can provide a more effective way to include your recipient’s first-name, without sacrificing the quality of your design to allow for live text. The first name combined with the eye-catching colours and image makes this email difficult to ignore.
